HOMECARE ACROSS ILLINOIS BOARD MEETING MINUTES

Maverick Steak House, Springfield, IL

October 20, 2006

 

Members Present:  Gail Ripka, Therese Macias, Ruth Ann Flowers, Jeff Workman, Mary Reed, Peggy Murphy, John Pickering, Mark Hilliard and Maxine Barth

 

Ruth Ann Flowers, chairman called the meeting to order at 10:00 AM.

 

Therese Macias made a motion to approve the minutes of August 18, 2006, second by Gail Ripka.  Motion carried.

 

Gail Ripka presented treasurer’s report; we have a balance of $2,450.27. Mark Hilliard made a motion to accept treasurer’s report seconded by Mary Reed, Motion carried.

 

 Committee Reports:

 

Web site-Jeff Workman; forum is up and running, not much activity. There was some discussion of passwords and problems getting on the HCAI web site, Jeff to check into this.  Jeff will be doing a power point demo at our December workshop and will mail the power point out to all members.

 

Legislative- Gail Ripka reported work on the rules for Private Duty License is proceeding.  Discussed the types of licenses required and services provided.

 

December 8th workshop discussed:

 Ruth Ann received a letter from Malinda Hillman regarding the awards, all nominations were very deserving.  Ruth Ann and Therese will get the plaques with the cost being around $40 each.

 

The board reviewed the agenda for the December 8th workshop;

10:15-12:00 Donna Serrett, IFQHC pay for performance and how to reduce hospitalizations and ER visits.

Barb Tackett, RN Clay County Health Department will discuss Outcomes

12:00-12:30 Annual business meeting and awards.

12:30-1:30 Lunch

1:30-2:30- Telehealth-Peggy Sohn, RN Bond County Health Department and ?

2:30-2:45 Break

2:45-3:15 Julie Peter RN, IPHA Senior Health Section

3:15-3:30 Wrap-up, evaluations and door prizes

 

It was noted that Bonnie Kohr can not make the meeting, Maxine will check with Alterna Care about doing a presentation on Telehealth.  Jeff stated that Ida Blevins is on hold but will get back with her.

Gail will check with Theresa about the brochures if Theresa unable to do, Gail has offered to do the brochures.

Ruth Ann and Maxine will provide door prizes.

The charge for the workshop will be $75/person for the one day registration.  Food cost is about $40/person.

Mary will email Maxine a copy of the Evaluation, Maxine will provide the folders and name tags.

We are to ask speakers to send Bio and how they wish to be introduced.  Bios should be sent to Gail Ripka.

 

The Hilton room rate is $70 single and $85 /double, to get the reduced rate mention HCAI when making reservations.

 

New Business

 

Ruth Ann Flowers has received a call from Nancy Nelson of IHCC wanting to co-sponsor meetings/workshops with HCAI.  Discussion followed.

 

Therese Macias from Jersey County stated they had their Medicare survey recently with NO deficiencies found.  It had been approximately 2 years and 4 months since their last survey.  The surveyors were very nice.

 

Other Business:

Maxine will send  ballots for the election, membership to receive 14 days prior to the annual meeting.

Ruth Ann will announce the results of the election at the December 8th meeting.  Peg Murphy is the incoming president.

 

Motion made by Mary Reed to adjourn at 11:10 a.m. seconded by Therese Macias, motion carried.

 

 

 

 

The next meeting of HCAI board is December 8, 2006 at 7:30 a.m. at the Hilton in Springfield.
