HOMECARE ACROSS ILLINOIS BOARD MINUTES

 

September 10,2004

Members Present: Therese Macias, John Pickering, Mary Reed, Jeff Workman, Teresa Smith, Gail Ripka, and Maxine Barth.

 

Jeff Workman called the meeting to order at 10:00 AM.

 

Minutes of July 9th will be approved at the next meeting.

 

Gail Ripka, Treasurer, reported the current balance of $6,029.41.  Maxine Barth made motion to approve treasurer’s report, seconded by John Pickering, motion carried.

 

Committee Reports:

Legislative: Therese Macias reported on an article in local paper regarding Department of Aging wanting to keep people in their home as long as possible-to cut down on nursing home costs.  SB 2801-expands the role of CCU’s case management on bigger scale.  A bill has passed requiring employers of 50 or more if going to lay off anyone must notify them plus the dept. of Labor 60 days prior to the lay off, Need to check this bill out, more legal issues to be addressed at conference.

Theresa Smith-reported that the new home health licensure is on the web, is much simpler. 

 

By Laws: John Pickering and Gail Ripka have been working on them-see handout.  Motion made by Gail Ripka to accept and present to the General Membership at the next meeting, seconded by Therese Macias, Motion carried.

 

New Business:

Discussion of upcoming election- Need President Elect and Secretary.  Theresa Smith will send out ballots for election

 

November conference of 18-19 was discussed, agenda completed, Jeff to email information out to agencies.  Registration was set at $80.  Room Rate $69 for single and $84 for double with cut off date of October 20th. Reserved as HomeCare Across Illinois to get the discounted rate at Springfield Hilton.

 

Mary Reed discussed BC/BS contract issue of being paid less than the contract amount of $90 – contact Sherri Heise 312-653-7652 if having problems.

 

John Pickering made motion to adjourn, seconded by Therese Macias, motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 11:40.
